Joe Foss Rifle & Pistol Main Range

There are two ranges that may be used by the General Public for recreational shooting at the Joe Foss Range: 1) the 200-yard Main Range, dedicated to the memory of, and honoring Ensign John C Butler, with 40 covered shooting lanes, and 2) the 50-yard Training Range, known as the Medal of Honor Range, which also has 40 covered shooting lanes.

All calibers of rifles, handguns and shotguns (slug rounds only) are allowed on these ranges except the .50 BMG (Browning Machine Gun).  No .50 BMG, buckshot or birdshot rounds are allowed.  In addition, tracer, incendiary, armor piercing and explosive ammunition is not allowed. Drawing from a holster is not permitted.

 Prices for an All-Day Pass to use the Rifle and Pistol Main Range are:

  • $7 - Adult
  • $5 - Military (Active Duty)
  • $5 - Law Enforcement (Active Duty)
  • $5 - Arizona State Rifle & Pistol Assoc. Members
  • Free - Under 18 years of age

Please Note

  • Please check-in at the Retail Center in the Main Building upon arrival.
  • Military, Law Enforcement and ASRPA Members please present ID/Membership cards at range check-in.
  • Please be sure to print out and bring your receipt with you to the range as proof of payment.

While on the range eye and hearing protection are required.

All firearms must be cased upon arrival at the range (Note: knit gun socks are not gun cases).  If you do not have a case for your firearm, you may borrow one at the Retail Center in the Main Building.  Leave your firearm in your vehicle, in the parking lot, until it has been placed in a gun case.
